Canadian judge overturns three of Canada’s prostitution laws.

EDMONTON (CUP) — “Selling is legal. Fucking is legal. So why is selling fucking illegal?” George Carlin once asked.

Carlin would have appreciated recent news out of Ontario. On Sept. 28, Ontario Superior Court Justice Susan Himel struck down three Criminal Code provisions relating to prostitution.

The case, launched by Terri-Jean Bedford, Valerie Scott and Amy Lebovitch, and represented by lawyer Alan Young, overturned three of Canada’s prostitution laws. In the province of Ontario, prostitutes will soon be allowed to operate a common bawdy house, live off the profits of prostitution and solicit for purposes of prostitution.

Ontario Wants Prostitute Ads Removed from Craigslist

Craigslist is being asked to stop carrying ads for prostitutes under its adult services section.

Ontario says it’s only fair that the online service site stop carrying ads for prostitutes in Ontario just as it has done in the United States.

Three Ontario cabinet ministers signed a September 14th letter to the CEO of Craigslist, which noted the website had not shut down links to prostitution-related ads in Canadian cities.

“We respectfully ask that Craigslist immediately take the same initiatives with its sites serving Ontario. This is a simple matter of fairness,” the letter states.

That's great news, more civility, eh?  Of course it's so damn cold up there it takes longer to get male response.  I don't think Viagra has a low temperature range variant.  So it all makes sense.

One strange thing I learned about Canada is that it is a "confederacy"-each provence has its own immigration laws, labor and (I think) civil commercial codes.  Used to business travel to Ontario (just walk in, say Hi), Alberta (not so easy-oil field work to control), and BC, again just come up and bring money.  Back in the day, Vancouver had a drug scene as heavy as Zurich and pot was everywhere, just don't light a number on the street…..
