For a number of years I purchased my cell phones from http://www.letstalk.com

They represent all of the major carriers and their prices can be $100 better that any other place.

For example:

the AT&T price for the new Blackberry Torch is $99.00 – the Letstalk.com price is $39.00.

The Droid X is $199.00 at the Verizon store – it is $49.00 at Letstalk.com

Based on my recent holiday shopping I now have to put Letstalk.com in 2nd place.

A website called http://www.wirefly.com is selling the Droid X for $19.00 and the Blackberry Torch for FREE.

Both sites have solid reputations and are authorized resellers for the major carriers.

The service contracts are the same, if Verizon or AT&T require a 2 yr contract it's the same at letstalk.com and Wirefly.com.

Bottom line do not buy your phone from the carriers, you will pay to much!

I just purchased the HTC 4G EVO (Sprint) for $99 from Amazon Wireless – http://www.Letstalk.com was $109, http://www.WireFly.com was $149 and Sprint was $199 for the phone.

I have found that you have to do some price comparrison – find the carrier and phone you like them check out all 3 for the best price.

What ever you do you need to avoid the company store.. you will overpay. in my case it was a savings of $100.

You can do it all online or call them

thanks for the info walle, how much trouble is it to set up the new phone when you receive it?

Would I still have to go to verizon and pay the "activation" fee?

I wish I could buy the phone without having to renew that 2 year contract, but it looks like paying full price is the only option for that.

I have purchased using both letstalk.com and Amazon the activation is a few clicks and their price included any activation fees. They are agents for all of the major carriers. Usually when you see a store front for Verizon, etc.. it is really a franchise – that is why the activation fee is there.

I went through letstalk.com to order the motorola droid bionic. I actually called them instead of going through the website.

I paid the same as I would have via verizon store, however I was able to keep unlimited data for $30 per month, the sales people at the store were saying unlimited data is no longer available and $30 was the cheapest/lowest data amount available. I'll pay the extra $70 for the phone to avoid potential future charges for data use.

I went in the store last week basically wanting to switch to an iphone, the 2 sales guys were pushing the thunderbolt and incredible, both by HTC, even after I told them I had bad experiences with HTC in the past and didn't want a HTC product. The cynical part of me now wonders if HTC has a better commission/kickback/bonus than the others.
