What is it about money and fame?  Is it that one one will tell them "no".  Do they think they can handle anything because they are famous?

I didn't hear Tony Bennett's comments.

 

But on the news this morning you would thing that the only thing that happen over the weekend was Whitney croaking and the grammy's. 

 

I think it's a tragedy that she passed, that no one around her cared enough to tell her no.  I feel bad for her daughter.  But I cannot understand why everyone acts so surprised that a notorious drug & booze addict passed away.  

 

I mean if Lindsay Lohan turned up dead tomorrow from an OD, it wouldn't surprise me a bit.  It was the same for Amy Winehouse… no surprise.  Anna Nichole Smith… no surprise.  Michael Jackson… no surprise.

 

Well I through being callous.  At least here.  For today.  

It's a bad deal, it's a bad deal when anyone dies, whether it's someone famous or the plumber/mechanic/teacher down the street, especially when children are left behind.

 

With that being said, part of me looks at this kinda like I look when we've got cattle rounded up, sometimes you've got to thin the herd and Winehouse/Cobain/Houston etc. pretty much culled themselves, although some did it after having children but hopefully the children learn from the parents and don't head down the same path.

 

How's that for callous?

 

Legalizing drugs won't solve the problem, but keeping them illegal hasn't done anything but waste tax money, and create a police force that is more of a military force than a protect & serve force.  People are stupid, people have always been stupid, people will always be stupid, you can't legislate morality and you can't criminalize stupidity, so we need to quit wasting our time/efforts with making drugs illegal and do a better job of helping people break their addiction and/or not get addicted in the first place.
